This 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 was provided by a Florida Division of Forestry grant following the devastating 1998 wildfire season. Bay County received 11 of these units, assigning one to each county fire district and one to the City of Callaway which provides services in the East Bay District. The brush units respond on all wildland calls in our first and second due area and are often part of in-county strike teams and task forces assembled to control major wildland fires in and around Bay County. The units can be assigned to respond anywhere in the State of Florida with two firefighters if request by the Florida Division of Forestry. The units can also be part of Florida Division of Forestry lead strike teams sent anywhere in the country in response to U.S. Department of Agriculture interagency request such and the large 2007 Georgia/Florida Oekeenokee Swamp fires.
